5 Distant Indigenous Artwork Centres Come Collectively In A Collaborative New Exhibition: ‘Our Nation’

‘Each paintings tells a unique and private story on how necessary Nation and dreaming is. It’s highly effective to see so many artists working round one concept,’ Karen says.
The exhibition will take over your entire prime ground of the Fitzroy gallery house, with an immersive projection displaying exceptional shifting picture works from Buku-Larrŋgay Mulka Artwork Centre setting the scene upon entry.
That is accompanied by sculptural carvings from Elcho Island artists, Megan Yunupingu and Judy Manany; work in ochre from senior Warmun artist, Gordon Barney; vibrant and playful work on canvas from Tjarlirli & Kaltukatjara artist, Aaron Pei Pie; and each shifting picture and portray works by Ngukurr artist and curator, Karen Rogers, accompanying iconic and vibrant scenes from fellow Ngukurr artist, Jill Daniels!
‘Some are private, some sacred, some extra enjoyable and fashionable,’ Karen says of the gathering. ‘Mine is concerning the previous and current current collectively. ‘Our Nation’ can be the primary Melbourne-based curatorial venture for Karen, and the primary occasion every of those artwork centres are exhibiting collectively.
